Evil Side of Politics

Politics is an important part of any human society. It is an essential tool for the proper management , sustenance and development of a society. Yet when politics take the form of a race among power hungry monsters, the society can rarely achieve peace, harmony and progress. It can most possibly lead to anarchy within the society.

When people stop thinking about the after life and completely devote their energy on gaining political power by any means they can hardly bring peace and success for a society. Rather they would establish a system which would quench their personal thirst for power and other desires.

Maldives is currently  walking towards the forming of what we could name as a modern society. The political system currently established is a multi-party democratic system. However, in this gradual process of transforming into a modern society the troubles the country will have to go through is not only what we are experiencing now. It is further to be experienced. Now that Maldivians have decided to step into the system and have stepped in it would be very difficult to go in reverse unless a miracle happens.

Now Maldives is going through elections for local and regional councils. Some people would have now started feeling the sweetness of  fruits   they are about to eat. The bitterness will mainly be enjoyed by the rest of the citizens. This temporary benefits would certainly make them blind and they would feel that they are superior over the other despite the background to which they belonged and their past nature of life. Moreover, the  society would start believing that they are superior and be obedient to them despite the factors mentioned before. The truth is that we are giving our nation and planning for the future of the progress of the nation into the hands of people we can hardly trust. We are sure that they do not possess the qualification and qualities of such a task yet we have become blind to hand over the nation in their hands and we are doing so with a smile. This smile would last until the elected start showing that they are superior. Power comes with responsibility . Power is not a sweet fruit to enjoy. It is sad that most of us hardly think when we hand over power on us to others. 

Governments use this kind of tactics to remain in power and individuals attempt these opportunities whether they know they can fulfill the tasks or not, as they are thirsty for the weight they will feel in their pockets when they achieve such power and the filthy desire for prestige they may enjoy. They hardly know what is management, leadership, responsibility, religious norms and  national goals and targets. Thus this picture helps us to visualize the evils of politics and bitterness of multi-party democratic system. 

Moreover, it is sad to know that several educated and capable people have kept silent thinking that this is not a task for them . They prefer to serve the people with a lesser mind, training and reliability. Thus this makes them too, incapable as saviors of our nation. Further, most unfortunately the ignorant and fun loving society may easily ignore the presence of those who are educated in the elections and choose film actors  with  very minimum educational background, famous athletes and players instead. People hardly know that  this is not a football match.Hence if we cautiously think, we can truly understand that our country may yet not be ready for the kind of management the higher authorities intend to establish. Maldives has a practice of stepping into new things without proper preparation. thus this seems like another step like that.
